The discussion also addressed capital allocation, Solta Medical's competitive environment, pipeline development and strategic options involving Bausch + Lomb. Management's commentary highlighted the balance between current operating momentum and challenges approaching in 2027.

BHC Raises 2026 Outlook on Operating Strength

Chief financial officer Jean-Jacques Charhon raised Bausch Health's 2026 revenue guidance, excluding Bausch + Lomb, to $5.525-$5.625 billion, representing 7%-9% annual growth. Adjusted EBITDA guidance increased to $3.225-$3.275 billion.

Bausch Health Flags Xifaxan Pricing Pressure

Charhon cautioned that fourth-quarter performance would reflect adjustments associated with Xifaxan's new Medicare pricing, effective January 2027.

Management expects gross-to-net accrual adjustments to reduce fourth-quarter revenue growth by 800 basis points and adjusted EBITDA growth by 1,400 basis points. Anticipated inventory normalization could create additional reductions of at least 300 and 500 basis points, respectively.

During questioning from Evercore ISI, Charhon quantified the accrual impact at more than $100 million. He also indicated an approximately $400-$500 million year-over-year net impact from pricing-related factors implied by the company's 2027 Xifaxan revenue outlook of approximately $2.7 billion.

BHC Sees Continued Strength Across Core Businesses

Chief executive officer Thomas Appio highlighted 14 consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue and adjusted EBITDA growth, excluding Bausch + Lomb.

Salix revenues increased 16% to $831 million, supported by Xifaxan pricing and demand. Charhon noted that increased channel inventory also contributed to quarterly volume growth.

International revenues increased 4% organically, with momentum across Canada, Europe and Latin America. Appio emphasized established commercial infrastructure and targeted launches as opportunities to support future expansion.

Bausch Health Addresses Solta's Uneven Demand

Solta Medical reported 18% revenue growth, although organic revenues declined 4%. Charhon attributed the divergence partly to the China distributor acquisition and uneven prior-year sales patterns.

During RBC Capital Markets' questioning, Appio acknowledged softer Chinese consumer spending and increased competition from domestic and Korean aesthetics brands.

Appio also described Korea as a relatively saturated equipment market, while consumables continued growing. Charhon projected mid-single-digit organic growth for Solta in the fourth quarter, supported by business dynamics in Korea.

BHC Prioritizes Debt Reduction and Capital Allocation

The company reported a $521 million quarterly net debt reduction, bringing year-to-date reductions above $1 billion. Management attributed the progress primarily to stronger operating earnings and cash generation.

Capital allocation plans include potential early redemption of 2027 notes and up to $100 million in open-market debt repurchases. The company also authorized a $50 million share repurchase program primarily to offset anticipated equity-award dilution.

Appio emphasized disciplined investment alongside deleveraging. He identified hepatology, gastroenterology, dermatology and neuroscience as priorities for business development.

Bausch Health Discusses Pipeline and Ownership Options

An Evercore ISI analyst questioned whether Bausch Health and Bausch + Lomb could pursue a more formal combination. Appio reiterated that strategic options remain under consideration without announcing a transaction.

Management also discussed larsucosterol's Phase III development program for alcohol-associated hepatitis, maintaining its objective of regulatory approval in 2029, subject to successful development and review.

In response to questions about interim analysis, management indicated that early study termination and submission were not anticipated, favoring completion of the planned trial.

BHC Maintains Focus on Execution

Appio's closing remarks emphasized profitable growth, operational discipline and targeted portfolio investments as the company's principal priorities.

Management enters the fourth quarter with increased guidance but expects Xifaxan-related adjustments to affect near-term comparisons. Improving cash generation and managing the portfolio remain central to its approach.
